For anyone interested, the NHL 10 demo is up on Xbox live. Looks like a lot of great improvements were made over last years already stellar game.

I've played the demo and put in a pre-order at gamestop last week. Online Be-A-Pro is about the only game type I played in 09 and I figure that is where the bulk of my time will go in 10.

The puck physics are fantastic in NHL 10. The puck will bounce around more and you can grab pucks out of the air or even bat them away with your stick. The goalies seem much improved. There are a lot of new goalie animations and the computer defense in smarter and will more aggressively attack you than last year. Board play brings a new dynamic to the game allowing you to pin the puck carrier against the board and have your teammate dig it out from him. If your trapped against the boards you can use your skate to kick the puck away to a teammate. Shots from the points seem to be more effective. Your teammates will try to screen the goalie more and deflect the puck in. I've taken shots that were deflected by my teammates stick and bounced off the leg of the other team's defender and went in. Passing this year is also much improved - you can bounce passes off the boards or feather them into open ice. The dump and chase is also much improved. After whistle antics are also a neat little addition. If you check or facewash an opponent you may get called for roughing. Piss him off enough and a fight will break out. The first person fighting is a nice touch, but I'm not sure if it will add much to the game.

If you have a silver membership you may be able to download the demo this week or next. I think they delayed releasing it for silver memberships. Definitely download the demo if you get a chance.

thanks for the reply ghost. looks like alot of new additions will make it one of the best if not the best sports game for 2010. 09 was great and i am not a hockey fan at all but i had as much fun playing that game as i did any other.

btw, what do you mean silver. now just because i don't play online much anymore doesnt mean i let myself go down to the silver level.

I would be surprised if it wasn't named the best sports game of the year. From the demo and what the developers are posting online, it looks like a lot of great additions are being made to the dynasty mode also.
